It is unfair to everyone to be understaffed
It is unfair to customers to have to wait a long time to have issues (ususally related to system bugs) resolved
It is unfair for the support staff you do have to be run ragged and then have to interact with customers that are justifiably unhappy.
I get that resolving issues in the final hours before bidding closes permits people to place bids. However there are several reasons this is not always desirable:
-> People who realized bidding strategey is an art may not find doing it all at the end strategic.
-> People have all different schedules. Some poeple are supposed to be working a job durring the final bidding hours. With times zones some people normally sleeep durring the final hours.
